MBA – online and on campus

Programme Features

  • Edinburgh Business School’s online and on-campus MBA programmes have been designed to equip future business leaders with the knowledge and skills that will greatly enhance their career prospects.
  • To complete the programme, students must pass seven core courses and two elective courses. Some electives are available as taught courses while others can be completed through online learning.
  • The core courses are: accounting, economics, finance, marketing, organisational behaviour, strategic planning and project management.
  • Each course is assessed by a one 3-hour examination. Students can sit their exams in March, June, August and December.
  • For all MBAs, students will have unlimited access to faculty message boards, past papers, online self-tests, peer-to-peer networks and dedicated advisors throughout their studies.

Course Duration

  • On campus, the MBA is studied part-time (two years) or full-time (one year) in Edinburgh and Dubai. The MBA programme in Malaysia is available part-time (two years) only.
  • There is no set duration for the online MBA.

MBA with specialism in Marketing

Programme Features

  • The MBA with specialism in Marketing programme is perfect for students looking to develop a deeper understanding of marketing concepts, tools and techniques.
  • To complete the programme, students must pass the same core courses as the general MBA and four specialist electives.
  • Elective courses include: consumer behaviour, international marketing, marketing channels, marketing communications, marketing insights, negotiation, principles of retailing, quantitative methods, sales force management and services marketing.
  • Each course is assessed by a one 3-hour examination. All courses are examined in June and December each year. Minor exam sessions are held in March and August in selected locations for selected courses.

MBA with specialism in Strategic Planning

Programme Features

  • The MBA with specialism in Strategic Planning will give students the knowledge and skills they need to advance in their career or become a senior manager in a large organisation.
  • To complete the programme, students must pass the same core courses as the general MBA and four specialist courses.
  • Students can specialise in areas such as alliances and partnerships, competitive strategy, corporate governance, leadership, making strategies work, mergers and acquisitions, strategic negotiation and strategic risk management.
  • Each course is assessed by a one 3-hour examination. All courses are examined in June and December each year. Minor exam sessions are held in March and August in selected locations for selected courses.

MBA with specialism in Finance

Programme Features

  • This specialist MBA has been designed to give finance professionals and those looking to strengthen and improve their career prospects the tools and knowledge to do so.
  • To complete the programme, students must pass the same core courses as the MBA and four specialist courses.
  • Students can specialise in areas such as corporate governance, credit risk management, derivatives, financial risk management, mergers and acquisitions, practical history of financial markets and quantitative methods.
  • Each course is assessed by a one 3-hour examination. All courses are examined in June and December each year. Minor exam sessions are held in March and August in selected locations for selected courses.

MBA with specialism in Human Resource Management

Programme Features

  • The MBA with specialism in Human Resource Management gives students the intellectual understanding needed from today’s leading practitioners already working in 'people management'.
  • To complete the programme, students must pass the same core courses as the MBA and four specialist courses.
  • Students can specialise in areas such as developing effective managers and leaders, employee relations, employee resourcing, human resource development, human resource management, influence, managing people in changing contexts, managing people in global markets, managing personal competencies, negotiation and performance management.

MBA with specialism in Oil and Gas Management

Programme Features

  • Edinburgh Business School’s MBA with specialism in Oil and Gas Management is ideal for students who are already working in the industry, or who aspire to work with public or private oil and gas producers, service providers and specialist engineering organisations.
  • To complete the programme, students must pass the same core courses as the MBA and four specialist courses.
  • The four specialist electives are: finance, project management, strategic negotiation and planning, all for the oil and gas industry.
