Studying in Africa

An Introduction to Africa

Cultural diversity (11 official languages and many others spoken in South Africa alone), alongside poverty and civil war, Africa is a challenging region in which to study.

  • The QS World University Rankings 2013–14 contain five African universities in the top 500, with the University of Cape Town (South Africa) at the top in 145th place.
  • The UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office currently advises against travel to some parts of the region.
