- Tokyo Institute of Technology (known as Tokyo Tech, Tokodai or TIT) was founded by the Japanese Government, Department of Education, as the Tokyo vocational school in 1881.
- Today, Tokyo Tech is the largest national university dedicated to science and technology, and a major world centre for supercomputing technology and condensed matter research.
- Tokyo Tech launched its International Graduate Programme (IGP) in 2007 as an opportunity for interested international students, who may have little or no knowledge of the Japanese language, to enrol in Tokyo Tech’s master’s or doctoral programmes and pursue an advanced degree in Japan.
