Student Accommodation

Student accommodation at the National University of Singapore

  • There are approximately 8,500 hostel places offered at the various types of student accommodation on campus, including Halls, Residences and Residential Colleges.
  • The Halls, Residences and Residential Colleges are located within walking distance of most faculties and schools, libraries and administrative offices. A complimentary internal shuttle bus service serves the entire campus.
  • International Undergraduates (non-Singaporeans and non-Singapore Permanent Residents) are guaranteed accommodation in year 1 and 2 (based on year of admission) of their studies in NUS.

  • The Halls are known for their vibrant Co-Curricula Activities as well as their rich history and tradition. Hall residents are expected to participate actively in activities ranging from sports and the performing arts to community service programmes. All students staying in the Halls are required to subscribe to the meal plans.

  • Students staying in the residences are encouraged to participate in activities organised by their preferred clubs, societies or interest groups. The single rooms in the residences are grouped as a cluster (ranging from 11 to 15 rooms) with its own kitchen and bathroom facilities.

Residential Colleges

  • The University Town (UTown), a first of its kind in Singapore’s higher learning landscape, opened its doors in 2011. Located across the NUS Kent Ridge Campus, this is where undergraduates, graduate students and researchers will work, live, and learn in close proximity.
