History

  • National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) was founded in 1931. It was named after “Cheng Kung Cheng”, the national hero of the Ming Dynasty.
  • NCKU is a research-oriented comprehensive university, renowned for engineering, technology, architectural design and medical teaching with nine colleges currently offering 40 undergraduate programmes and 76 postgraduate programmes and 54 doctoral programmes.
  •  From 2011to 2015, NCKU is entitled to receive financial support (NTD1.6 billion equal to £35.2million) from the Ministry of Education of Taiwan and the fund is continually used to conduct the national research projects.
