Student jobs

  • Part-time work is hard to find and a sound knowledge of Dutch is usually a prerequisite. However, EU and EEA students may work without a permit and non-EU/EEA students may work if they have a permit.
  • The university has a Job Service to help students look for work.

  • Universiteit Gent (Ghent University) is a relatively young university by continental standards, having been founded in 1817. It considers itself to have a broad international perspective.
  • The university was originally Latin-speaking, and has always been state-funded. It is now Dutch-speaking.
  • Bachelor's programmes are taught in Dutch. Some graduate programmes are taught in English.
