History

  • The Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) was founded in 1834 by a Brussels lawyer who wanted to establish an independent university where academic freedom would reign.
  • Currently, VUB has over 13,000 students, 20% of which are international.
  • Besides the Dutch-taught programme portfolio, VUB offers more than forty English-taught postgraduate programmes.
