Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn

History

  • The University of Bonn is relatively young by continental standards, having been founded in 1818.
  •  Its forerunner the Kurkölnische Akademie Bonn was closed in 1798 in response to the French Revolutionary Wars and then reopened as the University of Bonn once the Rhineland had become part of Prussia.
  •  Now considered one of Germany’s most important institutes of higher education, the University of Bonn provides quality teaching and research facilities to over 31,000 students.
