History

  • RWTH Aachen University (Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen) was the first institute of technology in Germany, tracing its origins to March 1858 when Prince Fredric Wilhelm of Prussia made a charitable donation to found a school for engineers.
  • Today it is one of 11 German Universities of Excellence.
