- The Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) can trace its origins to the Royal Saxon Technical School, established in 1828. Its first president was Inspector of Saxon Cameral Survey.
- Today TUD offers a wide range of disciplines from humanities to social sciences as well as medicine. It is also the largest university in the state of Saxony with about 36,500 students and almost 5319 employees.
