Students' Union

  • The Maynooth Students’ Union is an independent organisation representing the students of Maynooth. The student body elects officers to work on their behalf.
  • The union’s services include welfare support, exam support, and clubs, bars and societies.

History

  • Maynooth University is Ireland’s youngest university. Secular faculties of St Patrick’s College, Maynooth amalgamated to form a university at the time of the Universities Act in 1997.
  • Since receiving official university status Maynooth has grown rapidly in terms of student and staff numbers, as well as its commitment to research.
  • Maynooth is Ireland’s fastest growing university.

Support for International Students

  • The Maynooth University International Office provides support to over 1,000 international students as well as 600 visiting students.
  • The office acts as a first point of contact for international students and provides advice for student visas, accommodation, medical insurance, and general life in Ireland.
  • The international office runs an Orientation programme for all international students. The programme includes registration events, welcome talks, and social gatherings.
