- Sapienza University of Rome was established in 1303 by Pope Boniface VIII, which was the oldest university in Rome. In 1660, it was officially named Sapienza University Sapienza.
- Sapienza’s main campus- University City, designed by Marcello Piacentini was opened in 1935, and it is the largest in Europe.
- Today Sapienza’s academic focus is on engineering, natural sciences, biomedical science, and humanities. In addition, the university offers six Master degree programmes (second-cycle) totally taught in English.
