University of Bologna, Italy


  • The founding of University of Bologna can be traced back in 1088 when a group of foreign students hired scholars from Bologna to teach them how to protect against city law which imposed collective punishment on them.  
  • In 1989, the University of Bologna initiated a programme of decentralisation cross over Romagna by establishing scientific and teaching campuses of Cesena, Forli, Ravenna and Rimini.
  • Today Bologna University has 23 faculties and over 200 degree programmes with an enrolment of 92,000 students including approximately 5,000 international students.
