Studying in the Netherlands

Flora in an English student taking French Language and Culture at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

  • I've lived in France before and it made me realise I wanted to continue studying French on an academic level.
  • The University of Amsterdam is well renowned and I wanted to study at a university with knowledgeable and enthusiastic lecturers.
  • The fact that the university is all over the city centre appealed to me as well. Being able to study in the heart of a city like Amsterdam seemed like such a great opportunity.
  • The structure of classes is conducive to learning. In my programme, we never have more than 10 people per class which makes the classes personal.

The teachers all know who you are and you feel valued as a student. It’s always clear what work we should be doing for the next week and any queries we had could be brought up in class.
