Full-Time MBA

Accreditations: AACSB

Programme features

UCLA Anderson’s curriculum gets students off to a running start with a three-week orientation period that focuses on leadership, case analysis skills and career management.

  • In the fall quarter, students choose marketing or finance depending on their career and academic preferences, in addition to accounting, economics, and statistics. Students are placed in vertical learning teams intentionally selected to be as diverse as possible based on work experience, geographical background, and academic training, which serves to further enhance the learning environment. Also part of the core curriculum, a communications class prepares students not only for job interviews but also for a lifetime of communicating their ideas in the workplace. In the second, or winter, quarter, students can take either further electives in marketing or finance, or if preparing for a career in consulting, may opt to take strategy early. In the spring quarter, students take organisational behaviour, in addition to choosing from a large array of electives from world-class faculty.
  • The vast majority of students participate in an internship during the summer between their two years of the programme. These experiences can take many forms, from traditional 10-week opportunities with large companies to working on a business idea in collaboration with fellow students.
  • In their second year, students have the option of enrolling in Finance, Marketing, Consulting or Custom tracks and specialising in one or more disciplines in which they desire deeper understanding. The long-running capstone field study programme, called AMR (Applied Management Research), brings together student teams with executives from organisations around the world – each team spends 20 academic weeks (October–March or January–June) in the second year examining a specific company, industry or strategic opportunity. All full-time MBA students also must satisfy a global requirement from a menu of global study options. Together, the various components of the curriculum ensure that UCLA Anderson students are well prepared at key points during their MBA programme and armed with the skills to achieve lifelong success in the workplace and beyond.
