Full-Time MBA Programme

Programme features

  • The two year programme at Tippie promises to provide students with the skills required to dramatically impact their career direction. The education provided gets students on the path to becoming leaders in business.
  • Teaching is geared towards targeting employer needs via integrated experiential learning, and a focus on current issues and ethical challenges.
  • During the first semester students complete a core of business modules which provide a strong knowledge base. By completing the core curriculum within the first semester students can begin to focus on their specialist modules and consulting projects prior to partaking in their summer internship. Students also choose from a number of electives in order to explore other business interests.

MBA for Professionals and Managers

Programme features

  • The MBA for Professionals and Managers has been designed with today’s professional in mind. It is aimed at those who want to gain an MBA from a top business school as well as maintain their current employment responsibilities.
  • Similar to the full-time MBA programme, students participate in a core curriculum designed to develop competency in general management. Elective courses are then tailored to individual career requirements. 
  • Classes are held in the evening on Monday – Thursday and the occasional Friday and Saturday. The flexible programme can be completed in as little as two years or as many as 10.

Executive MBA Programme

Programme features

  • This accelerated executive programme is aimed at emerging business leaders, allowing them to concentrate on family and professional commitments whilst gaining a top business degree.
  • The focus of the EMBA curriculum is on building cross-functional competencies. This is achieved via business simulations, problem-solving discussion, team presentations and more. The curriculum is ever-changing to reflect the nature of business.
  • The EMBA is offered in two locations; Des Moines and Iowa City. Students attend classes for two weekends a month as well as participating in two one week residencies over the duration of the programme.

Hong Kong MBA

Programme features

  • The Hong Kong MBA programme allows working professionals in Asia to gain a top class MBA degree from the University of Iowa. On the Hong Kong MBA students are given the opportunity to integrate a rigorous management education with the demands of a full-time job.     
  • Students complete nine required courses covering the fundamentals of business practice, they move on to choose elective courses according to their career and personal interests. Teaching methods include a combination of case analyses, distinguished guest speakers and integrated technology.
  • Students attend classes over two weekends a month. Students have the opportunity to enrol for a semester in Iowa City.

CIMBA Italy MBA

Programme features

  • The Consortium of Universities for International Students offers students the opportunity to gain an MBA whilst studying in two continents, Europe and North America. The University of Iowa has been awarding the CIMBA since 2008.
  • On the full-time programme students begin their studies in the Veneto region of Italy moving on to complete the MBA at the University of Iowa.
  • Student class size is limited to 20 in order to ensure the kind of attention from the faculty that such an accelerated programme requires. The curriculum focuses on developing skills for effective management practice rather than business practice, believing the two to be mutually exclusive.
