Clearing & Adjustment
Why study here?
Everyone’s route to university is different. At Kingston University, welcoming difference is its greatest strength.
Kingston University is committed to ensuring higher education is accessible to everyone and proudly champion alternative routes into university. Academic staff work closely with industry to ensure the courses provided meet the demands of the future job market. Students are supported to put their academic knowledge into practice, and graduate with the agility and problem-solving skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world.
A location that’s the best of both worlds
Kingston provides the ideal study location. The university is located in a student-friendly riverside town of Kingston-upon-Thames, just 30 minutes from the centre of the capital. Students have plenty to see and do in the Royal Borough, from pizza parties and big nights out at Pryzm nightclub, to discovering the next big thing in the famous banquet records.
Transforming the campus
There is a lot happening at the university. The new landmark building, Town House, located at Penrhyn Road campus, will provide great new study facilities for students, including a new library with over 1,000 study spaces, flexible learning spaces, a covered courtyard, cafes, dance studios and rooftop gardens.
Students gain more than a degree
Students are connected to a range of activities aimed to help them develop inside and outside of the classroom. The annual Bright Ideas competition gives students the chance to develop an idea, have it evaluated and win a prize. The Kingston Award recognises students’ participation in activities outside of their course. It encourages students to develop new skills and a sense of belonging to a wider community, as well as improving their employability prospects.
Top tips for Clearing
Have your details ready. Make a note of Kingston's Clearing hotline number (0333 733 9158 or +44 20 8328 1149 if you are calling from outside the UK) and opening times so you're ready to start calling on Results Day.
Have all your details to hand when you call. You'll need your Clearing number from UCAS Track, details of your qualifications (including your A Level, BTEC, GCSE and equivalent results) and your UCAS Track log-in details. It is also very useful to have notes on the course you are applying for, some planned responses to questions you might be asked (such as why you'd like to study the course) and any questions you would like to ask the university.
Keep an open mind. You probably have your heart set on a particular course, but you are more likely to be successful in finding a place in Clearing if you are flexible and consider similar courses to the one you originally applied for.
A lot of courses have similar content. When making your choice check the course content carefully to see if it interests you and consider what other options are available, such as joint honours. Remember, Kingston University has many courses that include a foundation year, which have lower entry requirements, so do try and keep an open mind when discussing your options.
Add a Clearing choice within the allotted time. Most universities will give you a window during which their offer is valid, usually 12–48 hours. Make sure you enter your Clearing choice before this time is up. You should only enter a Clearing choice on UCAS Track if you have spoken to the university and they have offered you a provisional place. You'll only be able to enter one Clearing choice, so enter a course you're sure you want to accept.
Remember to check the UCAS website for the exact time on Results Day you are able to add a Clearing choice on UCAS track, usually it is mid-afternoon.
Kingston University has reserved some accommodation specifically for those who accept a place during Clearing this year, therefore guaranteeing an offer of accommodation to all applicants who accept a place during Clearing. The guarantee applies to anyone who has received a course offer and has added Kingston University as their Clearing choice by Friday 30 August 2019.
How can I book accommodation?
You must add Kingston University as your Clearing choice on UCAS Track. When logged into UCAS Track, select 'add Clearing choice' and fill in the course details supplied by Kingston University and submit.
Once students have had their place confirmed, they will receive an email within 24 hours regarding accommodation options and a link to the online booking system.
After you have read the accommodation email and understand the room types, costs and information, you can then book a room in halls.
