Student Accommodation

  • Priority for campus accommodation is given to first year students. 
  • The university has two campuses: Park, and Avenue. Each has on-site accommodation where students can opt to live in mixed or single gender flats. Facilities on both sites include a common room, free Wi-Fi and a laundry.
  • The halls of residence offer a variety of different room types that cater for different preferences, designed to suit all budgets; the majority are en-suite and all are self-catering. Rent includes utility bills, a cleaning service and insurance.
  • A Residential Life team of students and staff provide pastoral support and guidance, and there is round-the-clock on-campus security.

  • Recognised as one of the fastest growing towns in the UK, Northampton is constantly rebuilding. 
  • Northampton is the main town of Northamptonshire; a traditional market town it offers plenty of opportunities to shop – with retail parks and shopping villages that include independent shops as well as high-street brands. There are also plenty of bars, pubs and clubs all around the town, and Northampton nightlife has been regularly praised in reviews.
  • The university's two campuses are near the town centre, with Avenue campus just 1 mile away, and Park campus within easy walking distance.

Getting Around

  • There are excellent public transport connections to the campus; after the university relocates the UNO bus routes will include Waterside Campus and the surrounding areas, and include a park-and-ride scheme.
  • The main bus and train stations are a short walk away from the campus offering quick and easy access around Northampton and on to Birmingham and London.
  • Cycle hire hubs are available on and around key university locations; bikes can be rented by the hour or for a whole day.

Culture and Nightlife

  • Northampton has a vibrant nightlife, with many bars, clubs, restaurants and cinemas to choose from. The Roadmender and Balestra hold student nights, playing a wide range of music from dance to indie and garage.
  • The town has a diverse arts and culture scene including a number of theatres, galleries, museums and concert venues.
  • Spectator sports include Northampton Saints Rugby Club, one of the top premiership clubs in the country; Northampton Town Football Club; and Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. The Silverstone Circuit, current home of the British Grand Prix, is a few miles south.
  • For those who like to get active, there are equestrian and country activities, leisure centres and several water sports centres, including the Nene Whitewater Centre which provides an artificial whitewater course for canoes, kayaks and rafts.
