Open days at University College Birmingham

University College Birmingham is highly respected by employers and industry for providing career-focused education and training. It offers a wide range of vocational courses in both the higher education and further education sectors and continues to grow its portfolio of apprenticeships.    

University College Birmingham was awarded 'University of the Year' in the WhatUni Student Choice Awards, as well as coming first in the 'Student Support' category in 2022.  

Facilities  

The university has a wealth of specialist facilities due to its vocational nature including a financial trading suite, an aesthetics clinic and a prosthetics studio.  

The university has several libraries that offer a range of resources and services including access to over 50,000 print resources and 24/7 online access to more than 60 million digital resources.  

The new sports facilities at Moss House include a 35m indoor running track, an anti-gravity treadmill, eight lifting platforms, integrated bilateral force plates, an isokinetic dynamometer, and a Monark LC7 cycle ergometer.   

Why go to an open day?  

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.  

Where is it located?  

University College has five sites in Birmingham City Centre and all walkable from the train or bus station. They include, Moss House, Summer Row, McIntyre House, The Link and Camden House.  

Birmingham is a modern and affordable student city with a vibrant arts, music and events scene. It has four universities and a student population of over 65,000 from around the world. Birmingham has a lively nightlife with bars, music venues and restaurants dotted throughout the city. 

For a large, urban environment there are a lot of parks and green spaces and is centrally located with great access to other cities across the UK.
