Why go to an open day?
When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.
Where is it located?
The University of Gloucestershire has four campuses in total. The Oxstalls Campus is in Gloucester and can be reached by car, train or bus. The nearest train station is Gloucester, about two miles from the campus. The other three sites are in Cheltenham. Park Campus is about a 15-minute walk from the town centre. Francis Close Hall Campus is about a mile from the town and Hardwick Campus is about the same.
Gloucestershire is a great base for exploring England and Wales, midway between Bristol and Birmingham and two hours from London. Gloucestershire hosts over 45 festivals a year, celebrating art, music, science, food and literature. It's also home to Gloucester Rugby and Cheltenham Racecourse.
As well as restaurants, bars and clubs like MooMoo, Cheltenham's Brewery Quarter has tenpin bowling, indoor golf and a microbrewery while Gloucester Quays offers outlet shops and a cinema.
