Why go to an open day?
When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.
Where is it located?
There are two main campuses, Foresterhill and Kings College in Old Aberdeen. Foresterhill is the base for Life Sciences and Medicine while Arts, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences and the main library are found in Kings College. The Old Aberdeen Campus has been listed as one of the UK's Top 10 Most Beautiful Historic campuses. A free shuttle bus service is provided between the halls, campuses and city centre.
Aberdeen is a great place for students to live as its safe, diverse and offers busy city life with plenty of green spaces as well as a beach. Although it's known as “Granite City” for its grey stone buildings, its anything but drab with a cosmopolitan atmosphere, green spaces, and beautiful beach. If you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights but wrap up warm, Aberdeen is famous for its windy weather, thanks to its position on the coast.
