Open days at Birmingham City University
With a history dating back to 1843, university status was achieved in 1992, and the Birmingham City University name adopted in 2007. The university community is now made up of over 25,000 students from around the world.
The university is known for its innovative teaching and learning, sector-leading student support, and effective partnerships with some of the country's top employers. It offers a wide range of courses in various fields such as art, design, media, business, law, computing, engineering, and more.
Facilities
Birmingham City University has invested £340 million in its campus and facilities. The university offers a range of sports resources including those at the Doug Ellis Sports Centre. There's also The Pavilion, home to the rugby and football facilities.
Four campus libraries provide welcoming and varied study spaces, and the Curzon library is open 24 hours a day during term time.
There are various breakout and social learning spaces across the campuses, with catering facilities.

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.
Where is it located?
Birmingham City campus is in central Birmingham alongside Aston University's campus with a further City South campus in Edgbaston and City North Campus in Perry Barr. As you might expect from the UK's second largest city, it has good transport links. The campuses can be easily reached by train, bus or tram or by walking or cycling.
Birmingham is a modern and affordable student city in central England with a vibrant arts, music and events scene. Birmingham has four universities and a student population of over 65,000 from around the world. The city has a lively nightlife with bars, music venues and restaurants dotted throughout the city.
For a large, urban city, there are a lot of parks and green spaces, and it is centrally located with great access to other cities across the UK.
