Open days at Canterbury Christ Church University

Canterbury Christ Church University was founded in the 1960s as a teacher training college in response to a national shortage of Church of England school teachers. The university now offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate qualification and is made up of four faculties. These include arts and humanities, education, health and wellbeing and social and applied sciences.

The university received a prestigious silver award for teaching excellence, exceeding national quality requirements for UK universities.

Facilities

Canterbury Christchurch has invested in a range of simulation facilities to develop specialist industry skills, including psychology labs, SportsLab, simulated hospital wards, film, TV and media facilities, and performing arts spaces.

Campus libraries provide access to hundreds of thousands of books, journals, media and databases, online and in-person.

Student support advisers provide advice and support on finance, budgeting, managing debt and access to funding. A dedicated Cost of Living Hub has been created to provide crucial information and support during the crisis.

Why go to an open day?

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.

Where is it located?

Canterbury Christ Church University has three campuses across Kent and Medway. The main campus is in the world-famous city of Canterbury, which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The university also has a campus in Medway and a centre in Tunbridge Wells.

The Medway Campus is close to the naval town of Chatham and the beautiful city of Rochester.

Canterbury is a small lively city, less than an hour by train to London. Famous for its cathedral, Archbishop, and Chaucer's Tales, Canterbury is where old, cobbled streets meet modern-day life. A recently opened leisure centre, lots of independent shops, cafes and restaurants make Canterbury a great place to study.
