Open days at Cardiff University

Cardiff University was founded in 1883 and is the only Welsh member of the Russell Group of leading research universities.

The university is proud of its global outlook with over 300 international partners, providing a world of opportunities to study, work or volunteer aboard as part of a degree. It is particularly well known for its teaching in Communication and Media Studies, Sociology, Geography, Politics, International Studies and Development Studies.

Facilities  

The university recently invested in a multimillion-pound hub for all student support services including new social learning spaces. There are also a range of sports facilities including a swimming pool and several libraries, two of which are open 24/7.

You'll find a range of shops and services including a coffee shop, a barber's, a print shop, a bookshop and a supermarket in the Students' Union. It also has its own university clothing store and letting agency.

Why go to an open day?  

You can book an open day via the links below or register your interest and the university will let you know when bookings open nearer the time. Attending an open day will help you decide whether it's the right place for you to study. You'll usually be able to attend talks, take a tour, see typical campus accommodation and talk to students and lecturers so have some questions ready beforehand.

Where is it located? 

Cardiff University is made up of two large campuses, Cathays Park and Heath Park.  

Cathays Park is where most of the students are based. It's in the heart of the city and easily reached by bus or train.

Heath Park, dedicated to healthcare students, is based in University Hospital, Wales. It's approximately one mile north of the city and is easy to get to by bus.

Cardiff is a vibrant city with a thriving social scene, some of the UKs best shopping, world class sport and culture. It was recently declared the UK's first music city and is also known for being an affordable place to live. It's also a great city for foodies, with plenty of independent restaurants and cafes to try. Look out for the regular street food pop-ups and markets.
