Open days at University of Bedfordshire

The University of Bedfordshire offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses across its four academic faculties: Creative Arts, Technologies and Science; Education and Sport; Health and Social Sciences; and the University of Bedfordshire Business School.

The university has a student population of approx. 20,000 from over 70 countries and is committed to contributing to improving social mobility. More than 40% of its students come from families with no history of going onto higher education. Around 70% are mature students and over half are from ethnically diverse backgrounds under-represented in higher education.

Their research programme focuses on solving real-world problems in areas such as cyberstalking, child protection, gang culture and advancing a cure for Parkinson's.

Facilities

The university has purpose-built gyms at the Luton and Bedford campuses, offering affordable memberships.

The Luton and Bedford campus libraries are open 24/7 during term time and both have dedicated silent areas, breakout spaces and pods for group work, and high-spec IT and audiovisual equipment.

The money advice team is there to provide confidential advice on money management and budgeting, fees, scholarships and bursaries, and how to apply for other funding.

Why go to an open day?

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.

Where is it located?

The university has four campuses in Luton, Bedford, Putteridge Bury and Milton Keynes. The uni runs a shuttle bus service in Bedford that connects the uni to the town centre. The other three campuses have public transport options to get you from a to b.

All four hubs benefit from being close to London, without the cost of living in the capital and with easy access to train stations, the M1 and M25. Each campus is lively, culturally diverse and centrally located, with plenty of sporting, social and entertainment activities nearby.
