Open days at University of Bolton

The University of Bolton is a public institution founded in 1824. It is known for its vocational degree programmes and business and media courses. It has a large international population from a diverse range of countries, and its careers and employability service are renowned as being one of the most successful university employability initiatives in the Northwest.

Facilities  

The library is open 24/7 during term time and gives students access to over 200,000 e-books, 120,000 books, 60,000 online journals and 70 databases.  

Bolton Uni has some great sports facilities, including a large sports hall, a modern gym, 15m climbing wall, 25m swimming pool and a competition-level trampoline. There's also an Athlete Development Centre, which helps athletes, sports teams and coaches at all levels improve their performance.  

The Life Lounge brings together specialist mental health and wellbeing services, free for University of Bolton students to access.  

Why go to an open day?  

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.  

Where is it located?  

The university is made up of one campus and is a few minutes' walk from the main rail and coach stations.  

Bolton is a historic town with many shops, bars, restaurants and leisure facilities. The town hall, gallery and museum and the famous Octagon Theatre are all a short walk from campus. It's also less than 20 minutes by train to get to Manchester city centre.
