Open days at London South Bank University

London South Bank University, or LSBU as it is also called, is known for its commitment to reducing inequalities and improving social mobility. It has a diverse student population of over 19,000 students from the UK, EU, and non-EU countries.

LSBU offers a wide range of courses across its seven academic schools, including Business, Law, and Social Sciences; Engineering; Arts and Creative Industries; Health and Social Care; Applied Sciences; The Built Environment and Architecture; and Education and Sport.

Facilities

Each of the schools at the university has specialist facilities designed to improve the learning experience and make students feel industry ready. These include film studios, engineering labs, electron microscopes, design workshops, hospital simulations and the only anechoic chamber in London among other things.

LSBU's three libraries have a combined 940 study spaces, 195,000+ physical books, and 120,200 electronic journals and databases.

LSBU has several on-campus cafes and meeting spaces, and the Student Life Centre help desk signposts support services for personal, financial, educational and employment needs.

Why go to an open day?

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.

Where is it located?

London South Bank University has three campuses: Southwark, Croydon, and Havering.

The Havering campus is located outside of London, in Essex.

All sites are well served by public transport with the new Elizabeth Line making it even easier to compute between London and Essex.

With so much to see and do on your doorstep, London offers something for everyone. Local highlights include the South Bank walk, from Westminster Bridge to Tower Bridge, with iconic sights like Parliament, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Tate Modern, and the London skyline. Burgess Park is the nearest of London's many parks and the world-famous club, Ministry of Sound, is one of LSBU's more famous neighbours.
