Why go to an open day?
When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.
Where is it located?
The university has four learning sites in Chester as well as campuses in Warrington, Shrewsbury and Birkenhead, and a partnership with University Centre Reaseheath.
All the sites are accessible by bus or a short walk from a train station.
Chester has been awarded Purple Flag status in recognition of its flourishing night-time economy and safe environment during the day and evening. Wander around historical sites like the city walls and Roman amphitheatre and enjoy festivals and events throughout the year celebrating film, literature, food and music.
If you want to go further afield Chester sits right on the border with Wales so you're just a short journey away from brilliant beaches and breathtaking mountain scenery. The International Centre organises trips to Snowdonia and students can climb Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales.
