Facilities

Hugh Owen Library is open 24/7 in term time and The National Library of Wales, one of only five copyright libraries in Britain, is next to the campus.

The university has a range of sports facilities, including a sports centre, a running track, and a gym. The sports centre offers a variety of activities, including badminton, basketball, and football.

Why go to an open day?

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.

Where is it located?

Located on the coast of mid-Wales, it is one of the best study settings in the UK. It has three campuses: Penglais, Llanbadarn, and Gogerddan.

The main campus is Penglais, found on a hill overlooking the town of Aberystwyth and Cardigan Bay. The Llanbadarn campus is about two miles east of the Penglais campus, and the Gogerddan campus is located about five miles north of the Penglais campus.

The university has invested in improving walking and cycling links to, from, and between campuses, as well as bike storage and shower facilities. Electric bike charging points are also available. The university encourages students and staff to use sustainable modes of transport, such as walking, cycling, and public transport to get from a to b.

According to the Rough Guide to Britain, this is 'the liveliest seaside resort in Wales.'

The town has a small community feel with a rich history from the ruins of Aberystwyth Castle to the promenade and pier. The town's beach front is popular, and the coast provides plenty of opportunities for water sports, including bodyboarding, kitesurfing, kayaking and surfing.
