Open days at Norwich University of the Arts

Norwich University of the Arts (NUA) is a specialist arts, architecture, design and media university, with strong links with industry and an emphasis on employability.

Founded 175 years ago, the university values hard work, making things, mutual respect, engaging with emerging technologies, and having fun.

It aims to give students the freedom to advance their creative practice and provide professional networking opportunities to encourage collaboration.

It was awarded gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework and is currently the only creative arts and design university with a triple gold TEF rating.

Facilities

NUA is home to one of the largest specialist art, design, architecture and media library collections in the East of England.

The East Gallery is the university's city-centre gallery space, featuring NUA exhibitions or collaborations with national and international partners such as the Jerwood Prize, the Hayward Gallery and the Arts Council.

There is a café and shop on site and the campus is also surrounded by local cafes, bars, pubs, and restaurants.

Why go to an open day?

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.

Where is it located?

NUA's campus is in the heart of the creative quarter of Norwich. Its easily reached as both bus and train stations are within walking distance of the campus.

Norwich was voted the best place to live in the east of England (Sunday Times 2022). This medieval city is steeped in history and beautiful architecture as well as trendy cafes, street markets and vintage shops. Norwich has a buzzing nightlife, particularly because it's such a student city. It's also become a prominent arts and culture hub and is home to four independent theatres, offering a range of shows such as opera, ballet, comedy, live gigs and west-end performances.
