Why go to an open day?

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.

Where is it located?

Heriot-Watt University has three campuses in the UK: Edinburgh, the Scottish Borders, and Orkney. The other two campuses are overseas in Malaysia and Dubai.

The main campus outside Edinburgh is easily accessible by public transport and is about a 40-minute bus journey from Edinburgh Waverley Station.

Edinburgh is the historic capital city of Scotland, famous for internationally renowned cultural attractions such as art, architecture, museums, and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

The place is popular with students and in 2021 NatWest named Edinburgh as one of the top ten most affordable student cities. This affordability, along with Edinburgh's mix of city, countryside and coastline means students from both urban and rural areas quickly feel at home.
