Open days at University of Greenwich

The University of Greenwich is a public university offering over 200 different courses. It has won awards for its innovative research and the Queen's Prize for Higher and Further Education in recognition of its work in widening participation in higher education.

It is well known for its high teaching quality and the diversity of its community with students from more than 140 countries. Famous alumni include Natasha Bedingfield, John Boyega, Christine McVie and Charles K. Kao.

Facilities

There are library facilities on every campus, with access to 1.5 million books, journals and e-resources. Each site has cafes and canteens as well as communal spaces to relax, socialise or study. The university has a gym, sports hall, grass football pitches, tennis, basketball and netball courts and an indoor Astro Turf airdrome.

Why go to an open day?

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.

Where is it located?

The university has three campuses, two in London and one based in Kent. The Avery Hill site is located in Eltham, south-east London and the Greenwich campus is close to Greenwich Park and central London. The Medway campus is in Chatham. All three places are well connected by public transport.

London is considered to have it all including a vibrant and varied nightlife, top theatre, sport and music venues, and world-class museums and galleries, many of which are free.

For those students based at Medway, Chatham Maritime, a retail park with a nine-screen cinema, bars, restaurants and outlet stores and just five minutes' walk from campus.

In addition, The Deep End is a popular venue for students and hosts many live concerts, comedy events and quiz nights.
