Why go to an open day?

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.

Where is it located?

The University of Plymouth has two main campuses: the City Centre Campus and the North Plymouth Campus. The City Centre Campus is in the centre of Plymouth, within walking distance of the train station. It's home to the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business, Faculty of Science and Engineering, and the Faculty of Health, as well as the University of Plymouth Students' Union.

The North Plymouth Campus is about four miles north of the city and close to Derriford Hospital. It houses facilities for Medicine and Dentistry at the Plymouth Science Park. There are various buses you can take to get there.

As well as a thriving student population and social scene, Plymouth is also a haven for sea swimmers and surfers, with every nautical activity you can imagine. It is a small and diverse city with a reputation for its safe nights out, making it an ideal place for students. Although its history dates to the Bronze Age, Plymouth is a modern and vibrant place. With hidden coves and pristine beaches, modern galleries and street festivals, there's lots on offer.
