Queen's University Belfast is one of the oldest universities in the UK dating back almost 200 years. Its historic campus is surrounded by a buzzing, diverse community, making it the ideal set-up for students from across the world. Queen's is a member of the Russell Group of UK research-intensive universities, offering world-class education and research. The University is a seven-times winner of the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education.  

The university is dedicated to student employability with links to more than 30 highly successful spin-off companies, demonstrating its edge on innovation. 

Facilities  

The university boasts state-of-the-art facilities across health sciences laboratories, business, engineering and computing. The £50 million pound McClay Library is an award-winning library that blends a traditional library with the latest technology. 

Queen's Sport is the university's sports centre, which includes a state-of-the-art fitness training and weights area, four studios, 25m swimming and diving pool, two multi-purpose sports halls, martial arts area, two climbing walls, eight squash courts, two handball courts and outdoor 3G grass pitches.   

Why go to an open day?  

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.  

Where is it located?  

Queen's is made up of one campus in the southern outskirts of Belfast city centre. It is easily reached by bus or train from the centre.

The 'Queen's Quarter' is a popular and affordable area for students to live and Belfast is known as a friendly and straight forward city to navigate. It's famous for its lively music scene and feisty spirit and as it's a coastal city you'll be within easy reach of beautiful beaches, lush countryside, and the iconic Giants Causeway.
