Sheffield Hallam University is also known for its commitment to providing inclusive opportunities, with around 53% of its students being the first in their family to attend university.

Facilities

The university has some impressive state of the art technology including the largest PlayStation teaching lab in the world, a flight simulator to inform aircraft designs, and a 3D virtual radiotherapy room.

Two dedicated learning centres are open to students 24/7, 365 days a year, with access to a wide range of resources and study spaces.

Why go to an open day?

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.

Where is it located?

Sheffield Hallam is made up of two sites, one in the city centre near the train station and the other called Collegiate Crescent Campus is about two miles away in south-west Sheffield.

You can reach the City Campus by train, bus, tram, or car and the Collegiate Crescent Campus can be reached by bus, tram, or car.

Sheffield is the UK's fifth largest city and with over 60,000 students live there, it's a true student city. The large student population helps local businesses thrive and, as a result, many of these businesses are tailored to students' needs. With many different theatres, cafes, art and music venues, there's plenty to explore. There's also lots of parks, public gardens and countryside as 60% of Sheffield is made up of green spaces.
