Open days at University for the Creative Arts
The University for the Creative Arts (UCA) is a creative specialist university offering undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in Creative Arts, Business and Technology.
Courses are led by world-leading academics and practitioners in specialist fields of study. The programmes are practice-based and supported by state-of-the-art facilities. UCA aims to support students to realise their potential and challenge their way of working and thinking to come up with new solutions to issues around the world.
Facilities
Each campus has a refectory serving hot food and drinks, with space to socialize and Farnham and Canterbury campuses have student bars. All sites have exhibition spaces showing work by students and external artists as well as art supplies shops.
Each campus has free Wi-Fi and extensive Mac and PC suites running the latest software packages. The specialist libraries are open seven days a week except public holidays and a wide range of special collections, archives and magazines are also available.
Why go to an open day?
When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.
Where is it located?
The university has four campuses located in Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham and Maidstone TV Studios. Each site caters to a specific area of study so there is no main campus as such. UCA Canterbury is known for its Film and Digital Art courses, UCA Epsom focuses on Fashion and Textiles, UCA Farnham is Fine Art and Craft and Maidstone offers courses in Television Production. Each site is accessible via public transport.
In Farnham and Epsom in Surrey, and Canterbury in Kent, students work in a dynamic, sociable and collaborative environment, with inspiring surroundings and excellent industry connections.
