Open days at University of Kent

The university is known for its research excellence in several areas such as Creativity, Culture and Heritage, Cyber Security, Digital Technology and Communication, Health, Social Care and Wellbeing and Social Justice, among others.

The university has a triple-accredited business school that focuses on sustainability-focused, ethical business innovation with networking and internship opportunities.

Kent offers a range of conversion programmes in business, economics, psychology and computing for students from an entirely different background.

Facilities

As a first year University of Kent student, you'll receive free membership at Kent Sport, which includes unlimited gym and fitness classes. Libraries on both campuses are open 24 hours a day in key study weeks. The Canterbury campus has an arts centre called the Gulbenkian.

There are shops for groceries and cashpoints found within easy reach of both campuses.

Why go to an open day?

When you attend an open day, you'll get a gut feeling about the university. Open days will help give you clarity if you're not sure what course to choose. You'll be able to visit different departments and chat with lecturers and other department staff, there are often subject talks too. You'll also get to speak to current students. They can tell you whether they're satisfied with the teaching, what the local nightlife is like, what the best halls of residence are – pretty much anything. Don't forget to look at the accommodation for yourself and make time to walk around the surrounding area to see if you like it.

Where is it located?

Kent has two UK campuses at Canterbury and Medway and a specialist centre in Paris – the Paris School of Arts and Culture.

The main Canterbury campus overlooks the city and is within walking distance of the centre although you can also take a bus. The Medway campus has two sites within walking distance of each other and is close to the towns of Rochester and Chatham. There are good public transport links to get you to Medway.

Canterbury is a small lively city, less than an hour by train to London. Famous for its cathedral, Archbishop, and Chaucer's Tales, Canterbury is where old, cobbled streets meet modern-day life. There are lots of independent shops, cafes, and restaurants and it's close to the coast and North Downs countryside if you fancy going exploring.
