Applying with UCAS Hub 

If you’ve been applying to university, you’ve probably already heard of UCAS, the UK’s Universities and Colleges Admission Service.  

UCAS Hub is UCAS’s online platform created to help you check live progress once you’ve made your university application. Here, you can:

• Review your application information.
• Update personal details if anything changes, such as an address.
• Check if you’ve got any offers.
• Reply to the offers you’ve received.

Tracking your applications on UCAS Hub 

You can use the UCAS Hub as soon as UCAS has processed your registration and sent you a welcome email with a personal ID, username, and password in it.  

When each university or college you’ve applied to makes a decision, it will show up in your Hub. Universities offer applicants different things according to their own timetable. It also varies from course to course. This means you might hear outcomes in stages, and at different times from your friends.  

You could be offered an interview or a conditional or unconditional offer of a place. A conditional offer means the university will accept you as long as you meet certain requirements (usually grades). An unconditional offer means the university has decided your application meets all the course entry requirements already.

You might also get a rejection. While this is never welcome news, try to focus on the other opportunities available to you.

Responding to offers on UCAS Hub 

When you log in to your UCAS Hub, you’ll see what offers you’ve received. You might also get an email alert notifying you that a decision has been made. Sign in to UCAS Hub to discover the outcome.

You can hold onto any offers you get until all your chosen universities have made their decisions. Once you have all their replies, the UCAS Hub allows you to accept or decline each offer.

UCAS Hub and results day 

What time will UCAS Hub update?  

UCAS Hub will show up-to-date offer outcomes based on your results from around 8am on your results day. The 2026 Scottish SQA results will come out on 4 August and A Level results will be on 13 August. UCAS Hub will be very busy on these days, so it might not load straight away. 

What might UCAS Hub show?  

You might log in to UCAS Hub and see you’ve got a place on your first or second choice of uni. Your university of choice might offer an alternative or changed course. Or you might not get a place in this round and be offered something in Clearing. Whatever happens, don’t panic, and don’t rush into making decisions if you’re not sure. First, talk things through with someone you trust.  

It’s important to remember your exam results will not show up in your UCAS Hub. Your school or college will give you these.  

UCAS Hub and Clearing 

If you need to use the Clearing system, you can use UCAS Hub to search for courses. You can also officially accept a university offer. You can make Clearing choices on the same day as your results are published, usually in the afternoon around 2pm. For 2026 entry, Clearing closes on the 19 October 2026.

Before you add a Clearing choice in UCAS Hub, you’ll need to contact the university to see if they will offer you a place. Once you have their permission, click ‘add Clearing choice’ and fill in the details required. This counts as you agreeing to their informal offer. Once the university confirms this, it will show as an acceptance on your choices page. You can only add one Clearing choice at a time, so if the university doesn’t confirm your place, you can add another then.  

If you think you might need to use Clearing, it’s a good idea to look at alternative options before results day when the site isn’t as busy, and you’ve got more time.
