What does Continuation mean?
Continuation measures the proportion of students who continue with their studies after completing their first year.
How is it calculated?
It’s calculated using data from the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA).
The number of first-year students who continue to the next year, leave with a qualification or transfer to another university is divided by the total number of first-year students.

Who comes out on top for Continuation in the UK for 2025?
This measure was new last year. The top ten stays the same for 2025.
The University of Cambridge take poll position. London School of Economics, Oxford, Bath and St Andrews each bag a place in the coveted top five.
Durham, Edinburgh, Bristol, UCL and Lancaster University also do well, making up the top 10 in this category.
