Clearing success story: UEA
Read about Gabriel's experience of getting a place through Clearing to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at UEA.
What degree did you originally apply for and where?
Philosophy, Politics and Economics at London School of Economics (LSE).
Why did you use Clearing?
I entered Clearing when I didn’t get the results for my first choice uni and still wanted to explore the options my results would allow, without having to sacrifice quality. I came across UEA through a recommendation from a former teacher, who I really admired. After all, if UEA could produce an individual like him, then what would it do for me?
Why did you choose Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at UEA?
UEA was one of my initial choices, so it was always on the cards. It was only after I was placed in Clearing I was pushed to find out more about the place. Research is key!

Did you attend a Clearing open day? How was it?
Yes, unofficially. I was shown around by the African & Caribbean Society (ACS) President at the time. I felt comfortable but also a mixture of nerves and excitement for the place that would soon become a new home to me.
Did you find accommodation easily?
Yes, the university sorted me out with accommodation, and I didn’t have to worry too much about finding a place to live. I felt very supported through the process.
How was your university experience?
Excellent. I feel like UEA is the place I’m meant to be.
