Clearing success story: University of Cumbria
Discover how Patience got a place through Clearing to study Children’s Nursing at the University of Cumbria

Children’s Nursing
“I originally applied to study Midwifery at university but didn’t receive any offers, so I decided to explore my options in Clearing. I contacted the University of Cumbria in July 2022 via their Clearing hotline and spoke to a really friendly advisor about the courses available.
“I didn’t meet the requirements for their Midwifery course, so we spoke about alternative courses that would allow me to pursue my goal of working in healthcare, and Children’s Nursing was one of them.
“The advisor took my details and GCSE grades and told me to call back when I got my results from college, which I did. After that, an interview was set up - I found out the day after results day that I was successful and had been accepted onto Children’s Nursing.
“I would definitely recommend applying through Clearing. I nearly gave up after my original UCAS application was unsuccessful, but with the help and support of UoC, I was able to find an alternative course that suited me better.
“I’ve just completed my first year at Cumbria and I’m really enjoying it. The academics have been very supportive, and I’ve loved getting real-world experience during my placements.”
