Eniola’s Clearing story

After changing her mind about her subject, Eniola used Clearing to switch to a degree in Business Management with a Modern Language at the University of Essex.

Hi, my name is Eniola.

What degree had you originally applied for and where?

I originally applied to study Biomed at St. George's University of London.

Why did you enter Clearing?

After realizing that Biomed was not the right choice for me, I decided to apply through Clearing as I wanted a fresh start.

I chose my current course as it combines the two things that I love – Marketing with French – and it’s also given me the opportunity to do a year abroad, immersing myself in French culture and that is something that I have always wanted to do since I was young.

Did you attend a Clearing open day and, if so, how was it?

Unfortunately, I was not able to attend a Clearing open day as I applied two weeks before the start date. However, I did do my research beforehand.

Did you find a place to live easily?

Luckily, there was still accommodation available through the university's web page, but my options were limited. The earlier you apply for Clearing, the more options you will have for accommodation.

Have you enjoyed your course and time at uni?

Since joining university, I've made sure to use this experience to the fullest. Becoming a social media ambassador for my university, showcasing my university lifestyle in order to inspire others, as well as being able to do a year abroad in France.

I've made many amazing friends through joining multiple societies on campus, as well as attending many on-campus events. Making sure to explore my uni town and make as many memories as possible before I graduate.

What would you say to others who are going through Clearing?

If you are thinking to apply for Clearing, go for it. You don't know what's going to come out of it.
