Jessica’s Clearing story
Jessica felt anxious on entering Clearing, but it led to an exciting opportunity to study Quantity Surveying at the University of Reading.
I'm Jessica Collins, and I'm a third-year Quantity Surveying student at the University of Reading.
How did you feel on entering Clearing?
The entire Clearing experience can be quite overwhelming. You can feel quite let down, especially if your grade didn't meet your expectations.
For me personally, I felt quite anxious – especially as I had a last-minute career change. Therefore, there was a lot of uncertainty about where and what exactly I wanted to study.
How did making your Clearing call help?
However, once I contacted the University of Reading, I felt quite excited and relieved, as I managed to secure a place on the course. I also felt excited for a new career opportunity. What also made it quite relaxed and seamless was the friendly and warm individual I interacted with on the day.
Have you enjoyed your course and time at uni?
Transitioning from Clearing and having a last-minute career change may have extended my adjustment period to university life.
However, looking back on my academic journey, I can confidently say that choosing to study at the University of Reading was the best decision I made. It has provided me with a lot of opportunities and put me in a promising position for my career path.
