Clearing success story: University of Wales Trinity Saint David
Hear about Connor's experience of getting a place through Clearing to study Theatre Design and Production at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
What degree did you originally apply for and where?
I applied for my first choice only, a Theatre Design and Production BA at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
Why did you use Clearing?
I entered Clearing as I didn’t know that I’d be starting university in 2020, so I missed the normal UCAS application deadline. I had an idea of what I wanted to do, so I took my chances and went through Clearing.
The application process via Clearing was so easy, with filling everything out only taking me around an hour or two at most. I heard back relatively quickly. I’d highly recommend anyone thinking about coming to university who has missed the deadline to go through Clearing – you won’t regret it.
Why did you choose Theatre Design and Production at UWTSD?
There’s a lot of practical, hands-on teaching in workshop/studio environments with all assessments being practical – no exams or dissertation. There are also many opportunities for employability and experiences everywhere, such as opportunities to do work experience with companies. With all this in mind, Theatre Design and Production at UWTSD was the perfect option for me.
Did you attend a Clearing open day? How was it?
I didn’t attend a Clearing open day.
Did you find accommodation easily?
I managed to find accommodation on campus easily. The application process for accommodation was straightforward, with a simple form to complete.
How was your university experience?
I’ve really enjoyed my course and time at university so far. I’ve learnt so much during my first year and I’m really excited to carry on with the next two years of my degree. I can’t thank the Theatre Design and Production programme team, student services and departments across the university enough for their hard work, dedication and support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
