Birmingham has three main train stations -- Birmingham Snow Hill, Birmingham Moor Street and Birmingham New Street. All three have links to other parts of the country in relatively quick times. For example, a direct train from Birmingham to London will take between 90 minutes and 2 hours, costing between £15 and £25. This of course will decrease if you have a student railcard.
Birmingham has a very effective public transport system with over 50 different bus companies offering their services, eight of them serving the university. National Express also has its headquarters in Birmingham, so there’s another cheap and easy way to travel to other cities in the UK.
The city is served by Birmingham International airport, with easy access to European destinations as well as those countries further afield. The airport can be reached by both buses and train.

The University of Birmingham has a free shuttle bus operating between the Edgbaston and Selly Oak campuses as well as a £1 fare for students from the Selly Oak campus, operated by National Express West Midlands, who also offer student passes, allowing travel for as little as £1.25 a day.
