Guildhall School of Music & Drama

Based in London, the campus is in the growing cultural hub of Culture Mile. This stretches from Guildhall School and its immediate neighbour the Barbican Centre, to the Barbican's new cinemas, LSO St Luke’s and the Museum of London.

• Nestled between the popular areas of Shoreditch and Clerkenwell, the school is near some of London’s most famous landmarks: St Paul’s Cathedral, the Gherkin and the Shard.
• A short walk from the school across the Millennium Bridge is Tate Modern and the bustling Southbank, with numerous places to eat and drink.
• The school is also adjacent to East London, with its creative bustle and excellent nightlife. Here you’ll find jazz bars, clubs, outdoor cinemas and secret cocktail bars.

• The school's hall of residence, Sundial Court, is located a few minutes' walk from the Silk Street and Milton Court buildings.
• The 39 flats have communal kitchens with dining area, and shower rooms. The basement houses a laundry, practice room, bar and TV.
• Music students can practise their instruments in their bedrooms during designated hours. Some accommodate an upright piano.
• There is a wheelchair accessible flat with a specially adapted kitchen and bathroom.

• The Union is at the centre of Guildhall’s social scene. Students can join the Pops Orchestra, Guildhall Pride Society and more.
• Social events such as comedy nights frequently take place at the well-established Basement Bar at Guildhall’s halls of residence.
• The Union collaborates with similar institutions on activities such as ski trips, football matches, and winter/summer balls.

• Nearby underground stations include Barbican, Moorgate (both within walking distance), Liverpool Street, St Paul's and Bank.
• The school is served by a number of bus routes. Buy a student Oyster travelcard to save on public transport.
• There are secure bike spaces for students who cycle to Guildhall, or a bike can be rented from London’s bike hire scheme.
• Major airports include London Heathrow and London Gatwick. Others include Stansted, Luton, City, or Southend.
• Mainline train stations within walking distance of the school include Liverpool Street, Moorgate and Farringdon.

• The SU's weekly newsletter includes a jobs and opportunities section for any paid work locally or further afield.
• Within the school, students can take on roles in the SU bar or stewarding concerts. Some go on to work at the Barbican.
• The five vice president SU roles receive a cash bursary for the year to assist the president in different areas.
