Frequently asked questions
Students say they love the close-knit supportive community at Royal Holloway, where students, staff and academics work together to ensure success. Royal Holloway is a research-based university, and students relish the chance to work alongside and be taught by leading experts, who make real-world change. There are also many opportunities for you outside the classroom. There's a thriving social scene, a busy Students' Union, and countless clubs and societies. You can find part-time job opportunities on campus and in the local area. You can also take on extra activities to enhance your degree, including studying abroad, volunteering or working in industry.
Royal Holloway has a great range of accommodation to suit different budgets and preferences. All halls on the Egham campus are close to key facilities including academic buildings, library, cafes and sports centre. Halls are catered or non-catered and many are en suite or share a bathroom with just one other student. Many students choose traditional student living in the stunning Victorian Grade-I listed Founder's Building. This features long corridors of rooms with access to shared bathrooms. The university also has access to intercollegiate halls for students based at the London campus.
Royal Holloway has two campuses. Its Egham campus is in Surrey, near the towns of Staines-upon-Thames and Windsor, and a 40-minute train ride from London Waterloo. The university also has a campus in central London, in Senate House, as part of the University of London.
