In 1995, a merger of historic medical schools formed Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry; the university is in the Top Ten for both Dentistry and Medicine. Past achievements for Queen Mary include the creation of the UK's first aeronautical engineering department in 1905, followed by an aeronautical engineering laboratory in 1909.
