5. University of Leicester
The University of Leicester is fifth in the East Midlands, though its scores have dipped this year. Students benefit from learning resources that includes a Digital Reading Room where students and staff can discover, collaborate, and share ideas online and in person; a library open 24/5 in term time; and a digital library with more than 940,000 e-books and 75,000 e-journals.
The city of Leicester is as friendly as it is diverse: life is inexpensive and accommodation costs for students are among the lowest in the country. Notably, the university recently hit the news with its discovery of the remains of King Richard III, which have been reinterred in the city’s cathedral.
