3. Nottingham Trent University
Continuing its rise in the University League Table – after an astounding climb of 25 places in four years – Nottingham Trent University moves into third place in the East Midlands. With teaching assessed as gold-standard in 2017 (Teaching Excellence Framework), seven of the university's courses achieve top ten ratings – including Art & Design, an area that has brought forth alumni such as Sam Fell, Oscar-nominated director of the animated feature films Flushed Away and ParaNorman. Interestingly, other alumni of the university include two Great British Bake Off contestants!
